Potty Talk

Miss M's new favorite word (aside from "Papa") is "poo-poos". She also likes to say "pee-pee", but "poo-poos" is, by far, the most popular. Along with saying these words, she has a new fascination with all things bathroom related. This is adorable when she's trying to wash her own hands, brush her own teeth, or was her own face... However, she's really into what it is I'm doing. I find us having to stand over the toilet, as it's flushing, waving and saying, "byyeee!". So, this got me thinking, maybe she would like her own little throne to sit on.

There are many, many potties out there. Some that sing, some that don't do a thing, and everything in between. Although this is just a seat for the bathroom, NOT a serious attempt at real-deal potty training, it would be great to get one that will work when the time is right. I plan to start the hunt soon. Any good recommendations (whether you actually used it, intend to use it, or wished you had used it)? Also, any good potty tips or stories? I love potty stories.

  1. i haven't gotten there yet, but when the time comes, i've been eye-ing the babybjorn little potty chair that's like $13. i'm thinking a simple, plastic one should suffice. is there a cheaper one out there? i'm curious to hear what other moms have to say/suggest.

  2. Baby Bjourn seems to work the best. I had 4 different styles and only 2 worked for me. BB takes first place though. Second place goes to the soft seat and can go on the regular toilet, also has a step stool. Nick & Ali use the step stool more than the seat. Instead, I had to get a cheapy plain one to put on the toilet, go figure.

  3. I'm hoping we can just use a step stool and little seat that goes on the big toilet. I don't relish the idea of cleaning out a potty, plus I would think the transition to the toilet would be easier. That said, my baby is nowhere near potty training age so I have no experience!

  7. great book reco... must be good if it gets two (separate) thumbs up. "my friends" is definitely one of helen's favorites, so she'll probably like this one too.
